thin gold strips

hey
Had the Trafalar Charter Parade today. It went well. Got down to the RNVR at about 0900 and did a couple of run throughs which was good for me as I had missed the other practise and had to be the OIC of the sqaud. Overall everyone did well but no-one can sing the hyms -except for the one for seaman (last lines of verses go ~ pray for those who/perish one the sea) and thats cause they sing it at every naval service and most of the people were navy/sea cadets. The padre gave a good sermon/homily/lesson and read out stuff about Nelson about how he would never have got as much done if he followed the rules not the spirit of the rules. He read out an excerpt from Nelson speaking to his signals officer only how it would be now with all the changes and with political correctness/osh etc. very funny and definately made his point!

Was glad I had decided to bring muesli baars for the cadets as we got there as I said at 0900 but the parade didn't leave the RNVR til 1135 and the church service wasn't over til about 1315. While we had a cuople of short breaks and their was very weak raro for consumption their wasn't any food. I had thought thismay have been the case so told the cdts to bring something but of course they didn't! I even ended up giving one to a poor starving fellow Junior Officer who hadn't had breakfast. However I did get a ride uo the hill afterwards so I think we're even. Also means I actually know some of the reserve officers my age now. (eg not as old as my parents or at youngest my cadets parents.

Well totally different post to my last one. And you even got a post two days in a row!

PS how many of you can work out the title?
